Public-sector behavioral health is a challenging and rewarding profession for those of us who have made it our calling. We work with smart, committed, and caring people who want to make a difference in the lives of individuals struggling to find their way through mental illness and substance use. Everyday we touch the lives of families and individuals who have few other places to turn for support and treatment. We use every tool we’ve learned, every skill and approach at our disposal, to participate with our clients in their recovery and transformation.
Yet some days, the seemingly endless cycle of decreased funding, increased regulation, compliance crackdowns, workforce shortages, and the compelling needs of the people we serve make it hard to remember why we chose this path.
For almost forty years I have helped organizations and individuals reconnect to their values and their purpose. I’ve been like the Johnny Appleseed of behavioral healthcare consulting — bringing ideas and solutions from one state to another, one agency to another, and one manager to another. Each of my clients has found easier ways to build on the strengths of their clients, staff, and communities while providing high quality services that improve the lives of the people they serve – and doing all of that within a strong business framework.
I invite you to join me in finding better ways to connect and share what works, to reduce our struggles so that we can help others ease theirs, and to rejoice in remembering why we do this wonderful work. Inside you will find opportunities to connect, learn, implement, and develop in three main areas:
- Best practice-based service delivery
- A positive, results-oriented, and team-based organizational culture
- Leadership, management, and supervisory skills that make it all happen.
Whether you are a professional moving into a new supervisory position or management role or a CEO wanting to strengthen your entire organization, there is something here for you. To get started, sign up to be on my email newsletter list. As a thank you, I will also send you a 45-minute audio class on “Best Practices in Productivity” with corresponding handouts.
