How I Can Help

Middle Management Academy. The Middle Management Academy, offered in conjunction with the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare since 2001, is an intensive, hands-on 4-day boot camp for middle managers and clinical supervisors.  Combining theory with practical real-life scenarios and practice, the Middle Management Academy is a proven benefit to behavioral health organizations that want to enhance skills and build teamwork and effectiveness.  More than 800 graduates from almost 200 organizations are putting their new-found knowledge and skills to work on behalf of their employers and the consumers they serve.

Mentoring. Growing managers within your organization is something that can happen over time. I can help by mentoring individuals or small groups in specific management and supervision skills. This can be a follow-up to the Middle Management Academy, or a standalone approach to build targeted skills into the repertoire of managers and supervisors at any level of your organization. Another approach involves mentoring YOU to mentor your supervisors and managers.

Clinical Supervisors. Clinical supervisors often carry the burden of ensuring that practice guidelines, documentation standards, and program requirements are implemented well. I help clinical supervisors focus on strengthening the links between the client’s needs (as expressed in the treatment plan) and the actual service delivery. Using training, consultation, system development, and/or mentoring, I can help your clinical supervisors better meet the needs of the clients AND the agency.

“Lee Ann’s management training was infused with the day-to-day reality of the public mental health system. This made it real in a way those community college courses never do.”

Supervision 101. I offer on and off-site training and mentoring in basic supervision skills – the art of focusing on performance rather than personality to achieve the agency’s goals. One of the most value-laden products is a teleseminar series offered 2 hours per week for 6 weeks. Watch for the next scheduled course or contact me to arrange a customized version for your agency.

Special Focus: Sometimes, what seems like a performance problem (such as productivity or documentation) can often be resolved easily with some focused strategies and approaches tied to specific management and supervision approaches. I have helped agencies make quick (60-90 days) changes in productivity, improved client access, stronger compliance, or better morale. Contact me, and we’ll figure out what will best help you get where you want to go!
