Morale

In my travels, I find many behavioral health agencies experiencing bad morale, unhappy and unmotivated employees, and high turnover. What really breaks my heart is how many people believe that this is all that they can expect when working in the public sector and in behavioral health.

The work we do is hard enough without our organizations sapping our energy, too.

The good news is that we can make our workplaces magnets for enthusiasm, commitment, and responsibility. The even better news is that research clearly connects better morale with stronger financial and service outcomes. And the best news of all is that this transformation can begin at any level of the agency with a simple question: “What is working?”
