How I Can Help

Recovery-focused rehabilitation services. Over the past decade, I have become a national leader in helping providers and public payors agencies clarify how they can implement recovery-focused rehabilitation services that meet federal payment guidelines. A key focus is moving from a caretaker or maintenance role to a clear recovery-partnership with clients, and implementing proven interventions into practice. I have offered state-wide training in Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina and Ohio as a foundational piece. More importantly, I have worked with providers over time, using their documentation as a critical indicator, to help them improve their rehabilitation practice, document it, and supervise field-based staff. An especially effective approach is working with supervisors over time, to improve their ability to mentor their staff in quality documentation linked to service delivery. This can happen in person or at a distance.

Contact me to discuss training, mentoring, or consultation on:

  • Rehabilitation services
  • How to document to meet Medicaid and state standards
  • How to supervise field-based staff
  • Using functional assessments to support medical necessity in rehabilitation services
  • Building systems to ensure strong assessment-treatment plan—intervention – progress note connections – and improve services at same time

Implementing new practice models. A challenge that many providers face is how to implement new practice models into current practice. I have helped providers across the country integrate evidence-based practices, best practices, and emerging technologies into practice while maintaining compliance with reimbursement standards. Improving recovery & resiliency focus. One of my key assumptions is that quality behavioral healthcare is recovery and resiliency focused. My approach is to model this belief by including persons in recovery or parents of children with behavioral health issues as full training partners when training on clinical and rehabilitation topics. I can also help your organization conduct an internal assessment of your recovery competence. Based on your priorities, we can develop and implement a plan to integrate recovery & resiliency further into your everyday practice.
